This 12-member Committee deals with licensing applications for public houses, clubs and other venues, as well as other matters related to licensing and safety. It meets whenever there is business (e.g. licensing applications) to be conducted, typically once a month, usually on a Friday afternoon commencing at 2.30pm in the Maple Room at Municipal Buildings, Gillingham.

Prior to the introduction of the Cabinet system of political management of Medway Council on 1^st October 2001, this body was a sub-committee of the Community and Environment Committee.
