Leader reshuffles Medway's CabinetThe Leader of Medway Council, Cllr Rodney Chambers, has announced his new Cabinet. In the light of some eighteen months' experience of operating the new style of political management of the Council, and with changing conditions in the area, several of the portfolios have been amended and renamed as appropriate. There are still ten members of the Cabinet altogether—no cahnge there.
For example, the Community Safety Portfolio now includes the newly strengthened enforcement rôle, and the functions of the former Key Service Planning Portfolio have been re-organised into other portfolios including the new Highways and Transport Portfolio.
There have also been some changes to the Portfolio Holders. With one former Cabinet member standing down and another leaving the Council altogether, two new faces have joined the remaining eight members: Cllr Phil Filmer (Highways and Transport Portfolio) and Cllr Wes Hollands (Leisure and Culture Portfolio).
Cllr Les Wicks has moved to Education and Cllr Tom Mason has taken over the Corporate Services Portfolio.
All these changes, and all 55 members of the new Council and their positions on committees and other Council bodies, have of course been reflected in these web pages.
