The uncertainty about who owns what on the Horsted Farm area of land has now been answered by the Land Registry. The map to the right shows the Horsted Farm area; and the parts with a thick black outline are owned by Medway Council and are the responsibility of the Council's Countryside Officer based at Capstone Farm Country Park.
It is noteworthy that this does not exactly agree with what I was informed (in writing) last year by the senior Council officer in the Development and Environment Directorate. It is also interesting to note that the stretch of footpath running alongside the college site does not form part of the Medway Council-owned area. This comes under the college and is actually owned by Kent County Council (KCC).
As reported here previously, Horsted Farm is hoped to become a Local Nature Reserve, as are the Coney Banks, both subject to funding for which bids have been made. If this is successful, there will be a public meeting held to develop our community's involvement in the Farm site.
