Recycling Rates Reach Record New High! The latest recycling figures for Medway are now in, showing that the rate had increased yet again, and the overall recycling rate for March 2004 was no less than 21·38%!
This is further proof—if proof were needed—that the new arrangements in Medway are not only working, but improving month by month. Although there are bound to be variations from time to time (for example, during the summer holiday period) the huge increase over the norm during the last decade (whose high spot was around just 12%!) puts Medway well on track to meet the challenging government targets for the next few years. The trend has been well and truly established, and is just about irreversible.
Indeed, information coming in from around the country indicates very clearly that Medway offers a superior collection service and better receycling rates than many other localities enjoy, many of whom have only fortnightly refuse collections and a single recyclables collection on the in-between weeks. Oh, and the recyclables usually has to be separated into their various categories by residents elsewhere, which we don't need to do.
So, the next time anyone tries knocking Medway's recycling achievements, you have the ammunition to blow them out of the water.
