Road and Footpath Improvements
Improvements to Roads and Footpaths in Abundance
After a difficult period of several months, during which we have been pressing for a number of works to be undertaken, our persistence has paid off. Among improvements made in our ward in recent times are:
- Road re-surfacing (to a very high standard!) in Horsted Way/Maidstone Road
- Hatching at City Way/Maidstone Road junction for safety when turning south
- The long-delayed lowering by Southern Water of the raised access panel in the Beresford Avenue footpath;
- Tree pruning where necessary (picture is of a tree in Vale Drive)
- Alleyway between Holland Road and Barberry Ave/Watson Ave now permanently on regular cleaning schedule
- Damaged road signs repaired or replaced in several locations, with more on the way
- Vandalised 'bus shelter in Arethusa Road (by Long Walk) repaired—see the "before and after" pictures below.
As we go round the ward and notice anything needing attention, we take a photograph (or two) and report it in to the council offices. This is why so much is always being done around our patch. Sometimes it takes a lot of pushing, and occasionally we even have to fund the work from our own small budget for minor works, but we have pride in our area and it shows!
