Tree Wilson Avenue area Improvements: Open Day

Improvements planned to the Wilson Avenue area shown at Open Day

The Wilson Avenue Liveability scheme is now under way, with work having started at the end of October 2005. therefore it was time to hold the promised public meeting, so this was set up as an exhibition-style Open Day, held again at St Stephen's Church on Saturday 12th November 2005 from 10 am to 2 pm.

This was very well attended, with over 100 people turning up to see the plans for various environmental improvements including new streetlighting, new road and pavement surfaces (and deeper!) and traffic calming; also to talk to the project organisers led by Matt Feekings and a highways engineer.

Matt had brought along a wealth of materials: handouts, road-by-road timetable, the display materials and traffic survey maps and graphs—but forgot the master plan. Unfortunately the office they use (which is not a council office) is locked at weekends, so that was that.

Or was it?

Fortunately I had taken my trusty portable computer along, so was able to set that up to show the area covered by this scheme, and soon Matt and a long queue of visitors had gathered around it, and so the situation remained for most of the event. Not bad for a Plan B...

Below are a few small photographs taken at the event.
