At the Annual Council meeting last night (23^rd May 2007), after the Mayor-making ceremony and related activities, the customary Joint Meeting of Committees was held to appoint Members to the Council's various committees.

Despite a rather silly attempt by one of the new LibDem Councillors to change the scrutiny chairmanship arrangements, which some of his colleagues supported but were opposed by the majority party group (the Labour Group abstained from voting either way), the schedule of appointments was agreed, with a few late amendments and additions.

The appointments can be found on this website, either by committee or by Member.

Rochester South and Horsted residents might have noticed that all three of their Ward Councillors now hold positions of responsibility:

• Cllr Nick Brice : Chairman of the Audit Committee
• Cllr Sylvia Griffin : Vice-Chairman of Community Services Scrutiny
• Cllr John Ward : Vice-Chairman of Business Support Scrutiny

The Cabinet has also changed to some extent.
